Hi there,

We have just purchased a Bailey Ranger 550/6 (2008).
If any of you have the same caravan is there any tips / advice you can pass on?
We are complete novices, albeit keen novices!

We are looking to have a few one night camp overs, over the next few months so want to buy a porch to chuck wet wellies etc in.
Can anyone recommend the one we need? No idea on size we need etc. Something quick and easy to put up.

We will eventually get ourselves something more substantial once we've got going but for now we just need ease and speed!

Many thanks
Amanda

There are so many porch awnings on the market and im sure you will be recomended one. When you go to buy one remember to check the drop of it as caravan heights can differ.I took the drop for my porch awning from the awning rail to the ground. If you want to know what size of full awning youl need this may help....Click

Hi there..we had that van as our first van..we part exchanged after just 6 months..not because there was anythin wrong with the van..it was just the wrong layout for us...so our mistake...we thought with havin teens that liked to bring their mates along..we thought we needed lots of beds...but the kids had growth spurts and we found the bunks were too small within months..we also struggled with the small bathroom and not havin anywhere private to get dressed/undressed..
The one thing i will tell you to look out for..is the halogen bulbs above the bunks..our daughter was burnt by one..so we changed all the bulbs over to LED's..

Have fun..

Sal :-)

The reading spot-light heat is a good point and worth considering a change to LED lighting.
I replaced all the lighting in our Ranger to LED and used these here for the spots, which work very well and stay cool.

This was (and still is) our first van and we love it. We have the Sunncamp Vision XL porch awning. Took us 20 mins to put up the first time (with no instructions) then 10 mins every time after that.

Think that says it all!

Since then we bought an all singing all dancing full awning, we have used it once and cant be bothered with all the hassle in putting it up so all we ever use is our porch. Would rather time with the kids and having fun than spent arguing over putting up a full awning! ;-)

Enjoying caravanning, realising what an expensive hobby it is and spending the family’s inheritance before they can get their hands on it!
