I have noticed that when I draw cold water from the kitchen tap, it runs cold, then it goes to luke warm, then back to cold and then luke warm, so I can never get just cold water for the dog bowl it has to be lukewarm. Is this normal, or is there something wrong please.

Follow the route of the pipes around the van sounds as though the two are touching together side by side somewhere
2nd that unless the non return valve in the water heater is letting hot water back down the pipe and into the barrel.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

My thoughts too. Do you notice it especially just after you have used the hot water tap? If there is hot water in the pipes, then it could be that the pipes are touching. Try using the cold water tap as soon as you come back to the van from a long day out, without using the hot water first. If it doesn't happen then, I reckon it is the close proximity of the pipes. If it still happens, then Michael might indeed have hit on the answer?
it did it once in york week before last when i went to wash my hands, the only thing i could think of was the hot water had been on for days 24/7.only lasted a couple of seconds.i also remember reading of a new caravan and the cause was the two pipes were joined side by side by cable ties.

mine does the same, water pipes are clipped together, doesn't help when the blown air ducts are mounted on top of the hot/cold water pipes as well for some of the length,
Thanks for the replies. It has nothing to do with the aquaroll getting warm, otherwise I would not get any cold water, and it happens all the time, at night, early morning. Think I will mention it next time it goes into service.
Ours does this on the washroom tap, and I believe it is to do with hot and cold pipes running close to each other (touching) at some point between water heater and taps. It would be a hassle to trace the pipes along their route (behind major fittings), and too minor to warrant the trouble.

I'm curious, have you always experienced this with your van or is this is a relatively recent problem.
