Hello again Arlene.I often wondered about you and Muirkirk. We moved our van from the site at Beith and found one at Strathaven that we are very happy with.It is a Cassoa Gold storage site with excellent security, very friendly helpful owners live on site, double electronic entry gates, guard dogs etc.We have 24hour access via a key fob. There is a water tap a few yards from us for washing the van.All pitches are clearly laid out and numbered and we have been allocated a great one that we can just drive into without any reversing. The site is a 45 minute drive from home.Decided against Muirkirk for the reasons we talked about also it is now £1000 for seasonal pitch with electric. Will be interested to see what Strathclyde Park will be charging for storage when it opens. How are you getting on ?
Ann

Hi Ann, lovely to hear back from you, and glad you have found what you needed. We are going to find out about seasonal pitch and storage at Burnside caravan park near Blairdrummond safari Park. Only started to do research,on this sight, but hoping to pop up this weekend to see what its like. We camped a few times at Strathclyde park last year with tent and found it was not to bad, but from what i hear it will be a Caravan Club sight. In the past i have found the rules and regulations to much, but understand why. Does Cassoa Gold allow all year visits, weekend stays? How is your renovations with caravan? We are still doing things, and finding more to do. Take care hope to hear from you soon.
Hi karen, sorry didnt give proper reply, .... are you having same problem, trying to find all year campsight? Me and my other half we have been looking into buying a new house, little bit of me is.....What if buy land/storage, for caravans! LOL seriously always wanted to work from home. Something to think about, hmmm.....
Hi Arlene, you and I seem to be on the same wavelength regarding sites!Last year I kept looking at Burnside website but OH didn't fancy travelling that far to pick up the van.I think the rates are very reasonable for seasonal.Really hope you like what you see this weekend.Cassoa sites are purely for storage, you can't stay on them.Know what you mean about CC sites, just interested to find out how much they will be charging. The dog loves Strathclyde Park!
We didn't need to do any renovations to van, just cleaning.Going away on Sunday for a week on the east coast Scotland then away for the whole of June to France/Germany.
PS
Love your thoughts on buying land/storage for caravans. Problem solved!
Can we book now please ?
Ann
Hi Ann C.......we have done it..yes we got tow bar fitted and we are pitched at Muirkirk. We arrived last Saturday, everything is fine, spoke with some regular pitchers from earlier in the season, all nice comments on the sight, also big difference from last year, it is also a registered camping and caravan sight, now we are 100% sure it the right move, had a great time last weekend, of course children bored, but going for long weekend this week. Cant e-mail you dont know how! But we are very pleased.
That's fantastic Arlene ! So pleased to hear you are settled and happy with the site.To think how much time we spent worrying about it beforehand ! How does it work out?
Do you store the van on a permanent pitch and just pay the extra when you stay ? Anyway, have a great weekend and happy caravanning
Hi Ann we are happy, we paid our deposit, and pay monthly for permanant pitch,(which we like), the storage pitch £1 for a day, when occupied we pay £15 per night when we arrive. Happy caravaning to you too.
