After much deliberation we have decided to spend less on a caravan and have our eyes on a 2010 Ranger 500/5. Please could anyone tell me if the heki rooflight has a flyscreen as well as the usual pull across blind. The brochure says flyscreens to principle windows so I take it some windows dont have the screens? I know there isnt a door flyscreen but we can have one fitted so that dosent concern us.
We had a GT60 which was brilliant but the wrong layout, I know the standard Ranger spec is lower which dosent worry us except the ?? lack of flyscreens. Will be going to see the van on Sunday and have asked the seller the same questions but just know how helpful people on here are too.
Any info gratefully received and any 500/5 owners input would be brilliant.

I have a gt60 but i still have the brochures for gt60 and ranger. The specification for fly screens is the same for both vans, the only difference being the gt60 has the small hieki over the kitchen area.

I believe it is similar to our series 5 which will mean all the windows have fly screens and so does the Heki rooflight. The two very small roof lights dont have the pull out screens but are fitted with a permenant mesh / screen for when these are used (one in the bathroom and one in the main cabin). As you say although the ranger doesn't have all the extras of some vans it is still a good spec and very good value for money....plus light to tow! We are very happy with our 470/4 and love the large end bathroom but may up size in a few years time as we we like the idea of fixed bunks for the future for the children to use. The Lunar Quasar 546 seems a nice layout for us but we will need to wait for their prices to drop and for some to come on to the market a few years old!
Although the series 5 model, we've been very pleased with our 500/5; certainly a good flexible layout which suits us well and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
Although 'basic' in comparison, the Ranger is (in my opinion) a reasonaly spec'd van for the price, although I have made a few additions of fitting a CD/tuner and changing the majority of the lighting to LED (maybe only relevent if you consider not using EHU at anytime), plus a few additional well positioned main sockets.
Hope the van proves a good consideration for you.
thanks all, we'd definetly add a power socket to rear dinette and want an external power point too, plus a flyscreen will be fitted to the door as we go to France every year and have had problems with mossies. Van looks mint in pics, lets hope its as good in the flesh.
