Nipped round to Tim's and picked up one of the restraining bars. Excellent bit of kit. Cheers Tim

The other thing to look at are shower curtain poles which are adjustable. They have a spring inside which holds them tight in any sized gap.

Thanks Nora - good idea. I think the ceiling is probably more sturdy.
Brian - yes - shower curtain was my first optino but the curtains are seriously heavy winter lined curtains. The shower curtain pole wouldn't stand a chance.

Ian/Tim/P_lastic Nut
Could you tell me the circumference/diameter of the pole and if you can take an end off (to put on the curtain rings)?

Thanks
Feezee

Hi all
How about making a bar to restrain things in the van.
Take 2 broom handles of suitable thickness, 2 dowels of decent thickness and some heavy elastic bands together with some feet made from ply or similar with rubber or something protective stuck on one side.
Drill a hole in each of the broom handles at an appropriate place to take dowel and glue dowel in place. Attach foot on each broom handle and hey presto, there you have it. I know that you'll need some other sliding thing as well so that the handle won't simply come apart.
I'm sure that many of you can imagine the type of thing I'm proposing.
Any good taking this any further? You could have a fixed one on one side of the load with some hooked ends and have an adjustable one on the other side of the load.

Hi Feezee

I can't check for you until I'm next in the 'van as mine are in there. I've sold all the spares that I had.

I'll look when I'm next in the 'van.

Tim

Hey Tim
Just to let you know I bought one of those restraining bars, and my heavy curtain is holding well!

Very chuffed.
