B****** hopeless Chatsworth.......just because it has the best dog walk of all CC sites through palatial grounds.....just because you can walk from the site up to the top of Baslow Edge....and on to Calver Edge and down to Colditz Castle after walking along the Derwent Valley.....or pop along to one of the best Farm Shops in England and Bakewell market........yes why would you bother..
What was it Butch Cassidy said?....Oh yes....I have vision whilst the rest of the world wears bifocals....

I love the walk from the site along the river and back through the grounds, (poss the walk Phil is describing) the tea room in the village does lovely cake and tea, the pubs do good beer and food, we have seen salmon jumping upstream and herds of deer roaming. All of this is available when you step through the gate from the site. Had the most fab walk early morning in the mist too. Lovely.
I tried to book online for Brid over Easter all filled within 1hr.
Website showing serviced and normal plots all booked.
Just out of curiosity I rang the site direct and asked if they had a wairing list for cancellations, asked me what dates I wanted over Easter and I got a plot booked with the site direct!!

I found this too. We had booked a pitch for October half term this year but we later wanted to change to a serviced pitch. The website site showed some days fully booked so i rang the site and they had availability and changed our booking.
Lassie & SYNCRO: This is exactly what I do everytime.
It's alway worth repeating for those who don't know:

......The other thing is (and I apologise, I have said it before - but this is for those who don't know), if it shows full on the website, ring up the site. Caravan Club sites have some flexibility 'on the ground' (so to speak). The wardens have access to book you in, over and above what the website says.
I rang Chatsworth yesterday to try and book for the Saturday to complete our weeks holiday next August, shows full on website. Warden said no it's full, we don't have a waiting list, no spare pitches, if it's says booked it's booked. I wonder if different sites operate different policies.

It could very well be that others have 'phoned and bagged the remaining pitches after seeing the website says full. If you are adament that you want to go to Chatsworth then in might be worth ringing periodically to see if they have had any cancellations. I have never had experience of being put on a waiting list for pitches - didn't knjow the CC did this.
Personally, I would just look around for a site close to, if it's the area you want to visit. If it's specifically the site you wish to visit, I have noted that there are one or two who have had little niggles with the site itself.???
Hi David, we're already booked in Fri to Fri, we just wanted to leave on the Saturday morning, my hubby wouldn't need to use leave then for the Friday. If we have to we have to. We love the site and it's close to where oh works so he'll be working whilst I'm entertaining parents! It was Syncro above who said Bridlington had pitches available when he asked if there was a waiting list. I'll keep trying, may get lucky!

Just keep trying Sandra - fingers crossed that you get it eventually. All the best.

Hi Sandra
Sorry got your hopes up :(
I think I got the last two plots for myself and my parents.
I had same problem with Tewksbury last year but kept ringing the site every few days and managed to get a cancellation
Good luck anyway :)
