hi all, hoping to spend the summer in spain -12- but i think it may be the last next year, our motorhome is great, six berth autotrail, with rear garage, a great bonus.

the problem is my wife now has dificulty getting into the rear bed, so we are looking to sell it or part exchange it for a rear bedroom without the garage.

can anyone advise on best way of getting a deal whilst in spain, any dealers, caravan /motorhome dealers who could be reccomended? what is the procedure? what about import/export duty etc, i would obviousley take all the documents, log book etc.

ive tentatively tried a couple of dealers in england and quite frankly find them too greedy. my van is valued circa £35,000.

all advice greatfully appreciated.

I would be suprised if you would get more for a UK reg right hand drive UK built motorhome in Spain than you would in the UK. If you can sell it in Spain theres no import/export duty to pay. You would need UK reg doc & purchase receipt(ie proof you legally obtained vehicle).

If anybody bought it & wanted to register it in Spain they would need to change the headlamps & go thru Spanish registration procedure which may involve certificates of conformity etc.

Every country has its own rules. For example if you want to register a second hand vehicle in the UK that has been brought in from the EU it can be done in a few days whereas in France for example it can take months & cost £100s.

You will sometimes see motorhomes & caravans located in Spain for sale on UK ebay that are owned by Brits living in Spain. As they are trying to sell them in the UK it suggests that there is no market for them in Spain.

This may help

vehicles to Spain

doesn't apply to you but does apply to your potential buyer.

Given the problems the only reason a Spanish resident would buy it is because it was cheaper than the others. It seems unlikely you would find a UK resident willing to buy it if it was in Spain.
