Hi All and a happy new year.

We got our caravan last year and had a couple of great trips, getting used to the caravan, how it all worked,etc.

Now there's nothing wrong with the curtains per say, but I like a bit of interior design, going for a nautical look, and would like to change the curtains they are an orange colour and the seating and interior is mainly blues.

Could I get some material (have my eye on some on e bay and its about £11 a metre) and keep the old curtains and just sew new material onto them, so I don't have to change runners etc, or will this look naff, i don't want to waste the money I spend on the material

Or could I get someone to run up new sets for me?  any suggestions as to companies and how much this might cost?  as I say nothing wrong with the curtains that are already in the van but I'm a bit sad I think and want to make it our own.

Any ideas?  Taxx

 I have took mine down and dyed them a darker shade because the sun has faded them then i have bought a contrasting fabric to make new tie backs and scatter cushions. I also unscrewed all the pelmets and covered these in the contrasting fabric. looks really good. and didnt cost a fortune. £11 a meter is a lot of money for the amount of curtains you need. Dunelm do sell the popper tape for the curtains though. Will take sum pics in march wen van comes out of storage. let me know how you get on. and do some before and after pics.

I think it would be better to make new curtains.  Not sure where you live in the north but fabric at The Famous Bankrupt shop is £3.90 a metre and they have shops in Liverpool, Birkenhead, Crosby, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Preston and Wigan.  They have a large stock but which changes constantly, only downside is that you cannot order but only purchase what they have in stock.  I buy my curtain material from there and have bought fabric to cover the seats etc in our motorhome.  Worth thinking about if you are anywhere near.

Thanks everybody, think I will have a go at making new ones, were more Durham way bit further up north, but I think I will look about for cheaper material, thing is the caravan is only 6 years old and quite modern so am I being a bit to fussy trying to change curtains? may leave it till next year and just enjoy our trips away.... thanks all again
