Due to a change in our return Ferry booking from Spain we will be unable to take up our booking from the
6th-12th April on a fully serviced pitch .
So I be cancelling at bang on 20.00 tonight in plenty of time for someone else to take up.

Hi neil and lena, that too bad you had to cancel, good that you have cancelled, and posted. Have you been to Burrs Country Park before?, if so how did you find staying on the site and it’s location?, as I have been looking at that park, with the view to visiting the East Lancashire steam Railway this season.

Hi Jhsw I've not been to Burrs CP but like yourself I wanted to visit the East Lancs Steam Railway as I have a real interest in preserved Steam , perhaps another time I'll get there but by cancelling early somebody else will get a pitch over the Easter Break

The site is in a lovely location, right on the edge of the country park which is great for dog walking. About 25 minutes walk or a short drive into Bury town centre, which has been much revamped and has a great market. I wouldn't personally stay there as it's too close to home for me - I was walking my dogs round there only yesterday - but here's a couple of pics to give you an idea of what it's like -

Hi neil and lena, wish more members were as considerate as you, and would cancel in good time and post, as it can benefit others, strangely enough I was driving down to Oldham on Friday to look at a caravan, I was driving on the M60 when I saw the sign for Bury, unfortunately didn’t have enough time to make a detour and visit the site, if I am in that vicinity next week I will leave earlier and make a point to visit the site.

Hi Tigermouse, Thanks for the info, your pics look very good, much better than the ones in the club advert. Hopping to be down that vicinity on Monday or Tuesday and make a point of visiting the site. The down side is, I will probably wish I had the van on as I would want to stay.

The pics were taken last September, but the weather here just now - in spite of a heavy overnight frost - is just as nice as when I took the pics. I'm actually going over to Burrs later on to meet another couple of UKCS-ers who are staying there this wekend.

There is one thing I just thought of - if you do get down this way and go to the site for a visit don't be put off by the approach to it. When you turn off the main road you initially drive past a council estate and a couple of industrial buildings which could give you the wrong impression, but once past these there's a farm and a couple of open fields before you reach the country park itself so it does get better.

Hi, Thanks for the info, after last post, I had a look on Google maps, street view, not anything to worry about there. Just hopping that if I get the van, I may be tempted to stay there on the return journey, need to wait and see how things go.

On the subject of Burrs CP, we've just had to amend our booking for Burrs to March (2 weeks later than originally planned) as hubby and friend want to visit the British Shooting Show at Newark the weekend we were booked at Burrs. Fortunately we have managed to get a pitch at Milestone Caravan Park (an AS, which we've never used before), for the weekend of the Shooting show and were even more furtunate to be able to amend Burrs too. Really chuffed as we have now got an extra weekend  booked!
