Hi All,
yet again it's me with another daft questions so apologies now!
We have just bought a Prestina 260 XL Porch Awning and it looks great, in the bag...
I've unrolled it and had the poles out to see what I'm up against and the fibreglass ones are simple, just slide 'em in the outside sleeves and hey-ho!
The back bit goes into the awning channel on the caravan, again hey-ho!
We then come to the multitude of aluminium poles that have been kindly sent... The instructions don't mention these little monkeys and they are everywhere. A few have spikes at the end, a few have screwy things in the side and some are even flat at the end. It's like Ironman's version of 'pick up sticks'.
Does anyone know of anywhere where I can get better instructions than the ones that came with it? These basically state 'unpack awning and put up'. If anyone has one of these or knows of anywhere that actually shows the inside so I may get some idea of where the poles go, I would be eternally grateful, (well, until the next daft question I ask...)

Frame: Fibreglass roof poles - alloy roof support poles & rear upright poles. Suppose the pointy ones go in the ground, they should fit together to make uprights that fit against the van I suppose (Rear support poles)and aluminium roof supports.

We have just bought a 260xl porch awning and have exactly the same problem as dodger 936.

The instructions are useless - in fact we didnt have any instructions with the awning - had to ring the supplier and he sent me some through email. They were next to useless.

If anyone can help with a picture or diagram or just some step by step instructions - we would be most grateful. Many thanks.

Ah...we had the very same problem on our first outing 3 weeks ago but we've got the 390. Put the awning and fibre glass poles up and then sat scratching my head looking at what was left with the vaguest of instructions. You should have some poles with flat ends these all fit together and make up the roof support poles the flat ends insert into a pocket at each end. There should also be a hole in the middle of these poles to screw the adjustment clips into which then allows you extend the poles outwards and then tighten up. The upright poles will have a spike at bottom and black plastic cap at top which then inserts into pocket top nearest van. You may also have some thinner poles, I think (not sure) these are just for erecting a temporary canopy from unzipped doorway at front. Hope some of that makes a bit of sense, it did to me once I saw them all together.

Ah - apologies for the delay in posting to this thread - just spotted this: We bought the same basic porch awning (Prestina 260 , I think) last year and found the instructions to be equally unhelpful and the poles to be pretty naff. We also weren't sure that the poles in the kit were the same as the demo model set up in Camping and General. (Also following an unexpected squall late season, when we had replaced the full awning with the porch awning, the poles are probably now fairly bent) . Nonetheless we put the thing up and have used it a couple of times, and at a shade over £100 we felt we couldn't grumble too much. Just a point of note, Camping and General ( www.campingandleisure.co.uk ) are currently listing the same awning using the name Leisurewize Ontario - one assumes the manufacturing standards are similar.

The ones with the spike go nearest the caravan and keep the foam pads against the van (except they don't.) The spikes stick in the ground.
The ones with the flat ends go across the roof and push the sides away from each other. Look for the tapes on the inside of the roof ..... thats where the poles go. The flat ends go into pockets.
If you have any more they are for propping up the front windows like an awning.
Be careful when unzipping the doors ..... the zips easily get caught in the material.

I suppose you get what you pay for...
We used it on our last trip last year and the weather took a turn for the worst. A strong wind took care of a lot of the guy ropes.
Ah well, new caravan this year so onwards and upwards! have a great season everyone!

Hello I have just bought one of there and I wondered if you ever found step by step instructions as to how it goes up I have searched all over net for this or a vidio with no luck are all these type of porch put up the same way as there are many that look like this porch but under different names
