As you may be aware my present van has been wrecked by the wind and has just been declared a write-off. I am awaiting my settlement from my insurance company.
So now my search for a replacement van begins. My budget is £8000 at a real stretch but more realistically between £5000 and £7000.
Our circumstances have changed since we bought out Lunar Zenith 6 as my wife is expecting our third child in March. When the bump is born we will have a 5 year old, 3 year old and new born.
With our old van we liked the fixed bunks and the fact that we could make the beds up before we even set off and then strip them on our return.
So my ideal van now would be one with 3 bunks. We like the following two layouts....
or
The problem is that the above layouts appear to only be in vans which are at the most a couple of years old (above my budget).
Can anyone advise me of any makes / models of vans with the above layout which are a few years old (2003 - 2008) so I can start scouring the net for a second hand one?
they first came out 3 years ago I think my daughter has one Bailey and Lunar were the vans we looked at with them so you may find it hard to find something However, there will be vans with bunks at the end and central bunks too they were out more than 3 years ago but I cannot remember the names of them Bailey for sure

We have a Burstner 530tks 2002 with fixed bunks. I was told they and a make called Tec made them also with triple bunks. Both German vans, very well made. Sorry i can't be anymore help although i may have a tel number for a dealer that deals just in these brands somewhere if you want it let me know.

You could always get a good carpenter or caravan fitter to convert double bunks into triple. It's not the hardest job in the world.
In fact, I keep trying to persuade my brother to buy an old crappy for him & his family, with the intention of me fitting triple bunks in it for him.
Obviously I would be a novice compared to a carpenter or caravan fitter, but all the parts are easily available & as they would be fixed bunks you wouldn't have to go to the hassle of matching up upholstery, they would just each need a half decent mattress, again easily available.
A Burstner 530 tk has just gone on Ebay, its fixed bunks (colossally size) and you get a third bed next to them which can be a play area / table as we'll. We love ours the same as this.

Yeah we like the same layouts as well but when we were thinking of changing the van last month we couldn't find anything like this. We also wanted a seperate shower (for the OH) so the best one we could find was a lunar quasar 546 but I think they have only been making these for around 3 years so we couldn't find one under 10k. If you wanted a different layout with 3 bunks then maybe consider looking at a bailey ranger as you will be able to get a 2007 / 2008 for around £7 - £8k.
