Strikes me that if you pay for secure storage, and they you get broken into and damaged, then the storage should stump up for the theft/damage. If they don't then what does the word "secure" mean!
If they had to stump up for thefts, then you can guarantee that they would take more care of the caravans under their protection.
I'm just glad i don't have to pay for extra storage for my unit.

makes your blood boil these nomarks think they dont have to work or pay for anything, we will take yours is their attitude, on the same thread as magsruby whilst sitting in the works canteen someone came in and took my bottle of lemon and lime and took a good few swigs and then left(i thought i was going through a lot) if hed asked id have gladly give him a drink so i took it to the loo and topped it up if you get my drift and put it back in fridge although i probably wouldnt be there to see the payback the thought of it was enough for satisfaction
Nice one!
Quite disgusting, but perhaps a little less harmful than my laxative trick. Good for you.

.....i know a chap who caught a thief in his shed and nailed his hand to his workbench got 6 months and the thief got compensation.
Perhaps a little OTT, but I can totally understand it. Maybe he would've been better off just giving the guy a damn good working-over & letting him go.
Compensation seems a little hard to swallow though. What was his defence, that he won't be able to burgle places any more with a damaged hand???
Sorry to hear your story
I agree with Owayne.
I would like to see Cassoa or a similar organisation allow people to register crimes that have occured on their recommended sites. Then publish these to allow people to choose the really safe sites. This would encourage these sites to take more care of our belongings.
It would also help if people named here the site where their van was criminalised.
Im looking to put my van in storage rather than keep it at home but its very worrying hearing all these stories.
I once owned a sailing dinghy and joined a ailing club where I kept the dinghy. Talking to an old timer there, he told me it was common practice that when somebody arrived to go out in their boat, if a fitting (shackle etc) was missing or broken, to "borrow" one from a nearby boat. I couldn't get my head round that. It meant that I kept a few shackles etc in the car just in case I turned out to go out in the boat and somebody had borrowed something off my boat.
Just been back to storage to seal battery locker up till new catch arrives. Noticed a couple more vans have had their batteries taken One van had the gas bottle taken and another had food stolen from their unit? Storage is as safe as anywhere else but I guess if you want something, fields, trenches and fences do not deter you.On previous storage yard I had my jockey wheel and hitch cover liberated! The thoughtful fellow caravanner left me his old wheel as a substitute! Also had my water heater cover smashed around the same time.
