this time next week we should be in Devizes. the journey is very straightforward - largely motorway and A roads. Pete and Dawn were still there when we went last year - it was so strange when I went in to the office to book us in, and Pete and I looked at one another and I said "I know you!"  and he said "I know you as well - from Conkers!" What a memory. I think he wears his shorts all year round, doesn't he? bless him.

Have you tried the fish and chips from the van at Conkers? I used to teach the lad who runs it, he'll tell you how much time we wasted telling him to get a few GCSEs under his belt, and he spent his time saying, "no, I'm running the van with my dad" - and he is, and very successfully as well.Every time I see him I feel like a fossil!
