I have just returned from the show at the SECC, managed to pick up some bits and bobs for the new season. There was a display with folding campers(would love one but am concerned about noise levels with 2 boys)also the Artemis folding caravan, was good to see but with 2 growing sons it would not be large enough for us.
I was disappointed that there where no Adria's there, would really liked to have seen inside the 542DT model as I am really keen on that one. I managed to have a good chat with the dealer from Fife though and if I decide to go for it I will be heading there.

Thats really what I did, there was a couple of accessory outlets including Towsure and borders leisure, I'm sure towsure had Fenwicks caravan cleaner for about £6 which I thought was a good price.

Hi, Visited the show to-day(only reason) to have a look at the new Pennine Artimis, found it a little cramped in the seating area, especially if the table was in place, there is no wash hand basin in the toilet(not to much of an inconvenience, (I thought something odd about this van), only on return visit to the stand did I realise the it did not have a wardrobe, the bed has solid lid and not slats, there was no kind of handle, strap(that I could see) no hole in bed lid to pull it open, no information leaflets of any kind, you have to fill in a form and request a brochure to be sent to your home address. Only information I could get from the exhibitor was that the van weights 1200kg, think he was more interested in trying to sell me the folding camper van next to the Artimis, he tried to interest my in it three times when all I was wanting to find out about was the Artimis, in the end I had to be a little blunt with him and tell him I was not interested in camper vans I only want to know about the van I was asking about. (And that was the only reason I visited the show). Had a look at some of the teardrop vans, they have jumped up in price! £8500 for basic model, to £10000 depending what equipment you get fitted. Looked at some trailer type vans (fifer pod) two on display, looks like small hamburger van with windows and door at rear £8000 and £8500,

Hi Bowies, good selection of tents, think they were in two of the halls. Be prepared as coffee is £3.00 a cup.

Sorry Bowies I didn't really look at the tents. You are right John, the artemis was small, for 2 adults I thought it would be tight, imagine if you had a wee tiff, you would need to go to the toilet to get away(as long as you didn't want to wash your hands). A lot of the caravans on show were fixed bed models, which does suit me just now. The pods you mentioned is the same company I spoke to about the Adrias, he said they couldn't get a pitch big enough to display a caravan. I might look out for a 2nd hand one, but they are few and far between in Scotland.

Enjoy the show

Hi tag18,  Tell me about it Tracey, I have been looking for a decent folding caravan for 5 years now and most seam to be at least 200ml  or more from my location, Getting to the stage that if I want a good one that suites my needs I will have to build it myself, that’s not a problem, as I have built an old Ace globetrotter from the chassis up, only problem I may have is trying to re register a chassis from a van that has been scrapped, chassis should not be a problem(if it is not already on way to China) body panels from breakers.

Even old folding van with damp are selling for £1000.

I think you would need to be a size zero to have plenty of room in the Artimis, having said that it could give Gobur folding caravans something to think about regarding their prices and the equipment that you get for your money, no doubt  the Artimis will improve in time after some feed back. Other thing about it, the hot water heater is only AC, no use if not using hook up. I liked the van, it is a bit different from the run of the mill folding caravan concept.

Hi Tracey, just had a thought, the pod’s are very similar to those luggage trailers towed behind coaches, possible conversion there?

PS, maybe should have kept that quiet.
