Hi we have a 2012 bailey with a Truma Ultrastore electric/gas water heater. Outside there is a whale submersible pump to put into a aqua roll for water feed.
I understand that the heater needs to be primed with water before switching on the electric heating element or gas heater. Also that it must be drained down after use.
However what happens if the aqua roll runs dry during hot water use. Will the submersible pump just cut out, stopping the water flow to the taps but maintianing the 10 litres in the heating tank. Or is it possible that the heater tank could run dry and over heat the element?

Thanks, We are still learning.

The pump will judt carry on running and the ultrastore will keep the 10 litres of water that it has. You can not run the ultrastore dry, the only way to get thevwater out of the ultrastore is to lift the yellow lever.

Even if when you arrive on site with an empty ultrastore and plug the lectrics in and thn forgetfully turn the lectric on for the water hester all that happens is that almost immediately the heater trips its cutout, no indication is given and whn you go gor hot water half sn hour later it will be cold. To reset the cutout you must turn off the lectric dupply o th heater snd leave it off for st leat 10 mins but then ehen you turn the heater on shain it will work. Been thete done that and the heater stil works.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

You will know when the water in the aquaroll runs out as the pump will just whirrr continuously and you will hear it inside your van. If you do, switch the pump off straight away and then go and fill the barrel. I never wait until our barrel is empty to fill it but always fill after our showers each morning and then after washing up the dinner pots at night (ready for next morning) so it never runs out. Get into that habit

Phil

Running dry is the biggest cause of pump failure. Without the water, they rapidly overheat.
