Tyron Bands might be a  'belt and braces' approach but one of the dangers of a tyre shreading is the damage it can do the the wheel arch and eqiuipment inside the van so anything that helps keep the tyre on the rim and hopefully stopping shreading would be worthwhile.

But you have to go a long way to get a tyre off the rim. It's not something that happens instantly as soon as it deflates. You would have to be doing quite a speed & quite a distance for one to come off.

I think the horror stories, especially the 2 blow-outs in one trip, just serve to highlight the dangers of using tyres that are either too old or incorrectly rated. this is the only way you could get 2 blow-outs in one trip. (probably tyres with loads of tread left but badly perished sidewalls).

I have to agree with Tentz on this one. Blow-outs shouldn't happen. Correctly rated tyres of a reasonable age should ensure you never get one.

Blow outs shouldn't happen....but then we have pot holes, and sometimes we have sharp objects in the road.....the sort of stuff you just can't legislate for after you have checked your tyres, the walls for cracking, air presure, loading capacity, weight distribution in the van etc ...all the things we can control.......

Pot-holes & sharp objects don't cause blow-outs, they cause punctures.

Out of interest, has anyone on here ever had a tyre come off the rim after a blow-out on a caravan?
