i have just purchased a 1994 sterling europa 2 berth......
I want to fit alko aks 1300 stabiliser...
my hitch at the moment does not look like the one in the fitting instructions...
it has 1 bolt sideways and1 from the top can anyone advise please
I think John, the Op has an AKS1300 which he wants to fit, but is concerned with regards to existing standard hitch fitment (if I've read post right).
See AKS1300 user manual which covers installation on pages 2 and 3 (see page numbers on document, as each 'page view' covers two different pages), and details use on drawbars with both horizontal and vertical fixing positions.
Hi Rupert, are you sure its a 1994 Sterling Europa as from memory in 1994 Sprite Leisure was still in existence and it was not until they were taken over by Swift Group that the Sterling name was used. If it is a Sprite Leisure product it will probably have a BPW chassis rather than an Alko.

As described, it sounds like a Knott coupling on the op's caravan, So presumably the Al-ko hitch could not be fitted. A blade type stabiliser could be used.
i would not rule it out, i have fitted an alko 3004 on my 1993 van that has a BPW chassis, i had to use what alko call a type B spacer as the draw bar was 45mm, the bolts fitted 1 across the draw bar and 1 vertically down at the back end.
