Hi All, Is it possible to overcharge my battery whilst attached to van. I made the newbie mistake by letting it go flat, filled the dry cells and charged it up off the van hoping it would be Ok. Been away for the weekend and the smell drew me too the battery which had boiled over, never seen it before, the battery casing was hot, with smoke coming from one of the cells. Plan to get a new one but concerned the built in charger could be NG.

Any help would be apprecaited

hi jeff ,charger may be ok but is trying to charge a faulty battery.can be checked with a meter without being fixed to a battery.with EHU on it should be giving 13.5 to 14 volts at the battery lugs.battery lugs MUST be insulated if no battery present or you could blow the charger if it touches the body,

Thanks to the replys, I plan to get the charger checked before i put new battery on. Dissapointed if charger is Ng, vans only a 2010.
