Have you checked the manual to see if it has an internal fuse? Worth an initial check and also the main fuses in the caravan fuse box. I know our Truma also has requires a battery to ignite on gas and if this goes flat we can't get an ignition....sorry not sure if the Carver requires one but thought I would mention it.

Carvers own electronic ignition uses 12 volts from the vans battery so that ain't it, also, the 2000 was not always electronic, most infact were fitted with manual Piezo ignition.
The Piezo is held in the gas control rod, so can you then press down firmly on the control knob and get it to click? and therefore produce one spark at the burner.
BTW, you should press down fully like this and hold it down, before you get to the marked lighting position, then continue toward the marked position until you feel the rod drop a little further.
This is the exact lighting position, not always in-line with the marked position, but the only place it will light and stay lit
Note, the Carver 2000 fire from 1998 to 2000 is identical to the 1800SC from 95-on

Hi Gary (arc systems) could you advise on my heater. It is a Carver 1800 fitted in my 1991 Elddis Wisp. When I first got the caravan I tried the heater and when I pressed the control knob down and then the ignition switch there was a loud boom from underneath the caravan, bit like a car backfire but not that loud, frightened me so haven't tried it again, thought it was going to blow up. Would be greatful for any thoughts on what it could be?? The previous owner said he never used the fire.
------------- Rose
