You really need to measure your caravan first, both the 'A' measurement throgh the awning rail from ground to ground using a piece of string (a clothes line works well for this) and then measure the height along the flat part of the upper awning channel before it bends and slopes away towrds the front and rear.

The more modern caravans tend to be much taller at rail height than those older models with the 'boat' shaped roofs, and although from memory i believe your model of caravan had a one piece flat roof, it is still lightly to be shorter in height due to having smaller diameter wheels in comparison to some of the heavier single axel caravans built today.

Is it a full awning you are looking to buy or a porch awning? The latter can be nearly as big as a full awning these days with plenty of 390cm long models available, and the advantage of these being transferable to another caravan if you decide to trade up at anytime in the future.

hi julia

i have looked on a website and they state it is 847 which means i need a 850 but not sure what that means i think that might be the length of the track like you stated but i can not find out the height anywhere and the van is on a winter site at the moment so can not get to measure it till weekend, and i have seen a TOWSURE PANAMA XL 390 CARAVAN AWNING for sale really cheap but will miss it by the time i get to measure it, it says it is 235 to 250 height and 390 lenght

Our last van was a marauder 450ct mk1 1990,Great Van. It came with an awning marked 14 feet which fitted well but was tired and leaky. We found that even though the several awnings we used to replace it were of the correct floor to floor measurement, every single one of them was shapeless and sagged badly when put up. .We worked out eventually that the reason is that this van's awning rail is noticeably lower than more modern ones and modern awnings may be the correct size but the actual shape of them does not suit the low rail. We managed to improve the fit to acceptable by always pitching on the top steps of a pair of Fiamma wedges.
