I'm not the most patient of persons an waiting to have enough money to buy one is certainly testing my patience to its max but I know it will be worth it in the end !! We are taking my Dads tourer away on thusday for easter weekend as a tester geez i hope we like it... really though surely we will going from a tent which by the way we love to a caravan im sure a lot of you have what are your experiences of this good or bad !!!!!

We had a tent and loved it, but having tried to put a tent up in pouring rain and gusting winds, our minds were made up when a chap turned up in his van, had it levelled and a brew in his hand whilst we were still pegging out!

Loved tenting, but really love 'vanning!! Nothing like being tucked up at night if it's raining outside! Maybe it is 'soft' camping, but we get out and about so many more times a year with the van.

We loved being in a tent but like DI + Glyn, our breaking point was one BH it rained it blew tent poles broke, tent fell down, caravan pulled up next to us, levelled, and I saw them all sitting inside with lights on, tv going, I could hear their heater whiring, I turned to husband and said that is enough, through chattering teeth and dripping hair, the next day we packed up what was left of the tent, threw it in the bin, and a week later we were the owners of a old but cosy caravan, havnt looked back since, we're on our third van now. If I ever feel the urge to sleep under canvas I'll sleep in the awning, but as of yet not had that urge, getting up in the middle of the night for the loo and walking a few steps on carpet in bare feet, and just popping put of bed to put the kettle on, and not having to put on fifty layers before bed, need I say more, you'll love it.
Perhaps it's soft camping but I wouldn't change a thing now , enjoy yourself :)

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.

I bought a caravan for the same reasons, ive been down to dorset steam fair twice now and on both occasions the tents got so muddy and damaged they had to be binned. Also using the portaloos and not having decent shower and cooking facilities made me think twice about doing it again. Im just glad they were 9 quid festival tents and not something more expensive. Having said that i once had a great weeks tent holiday in Newquay so its not all bad if the weathers decent.
