Oh hell. Apart from my ceiling light not working. Took the van away the weekend put blue in the Wc bottom tank and pink in the top, filled top tank with water. But when I used the plunger to flush just a dribble of water comes out does anyone know what the problem is.

from memory there is a plastic bellows inside that pumps the water when you operate the plunger, sounds like either this has split or the pipe that comes off of it inside the top tank has come adrift or split, it is easily replaced as a complete unit. I would take a look at thetfords website and see if there are any shcematic diagrams so you can see what I'am on about. again from memory there is a plastic cover around the plunger that has to be gently levered off ,under this there is a couple of self tapping screws  remove these and the whole thing lifts out.

The same thing happened to us on our first trip out.

When you remove the plunger mechanism there is a plastic "clip" that holds 2 pieces together, ours had broken, or been broken on assembly.

I tie wrapped it together over 4 years ago and have never had a problem since

The part in question is the Pump Retainer, see the exploded drawing available here, the part is item 26A, part number 23845.

In my opinion, the build of this part isn't a great idea as it's held by three clips, under tension from a large 'o' ring in the bottom of the pump. Easy enough to replace.

But ...

My C200 also had the same symptom last weekend and I assumed this same clip had broken again, however on investigation, the bottom edge of the main pump had broken (which the retainer clips onto). This warrants a new pump complete as the pump doesn't break down into further parts, however I used a waterproof glue to bond the retainer and pump again and the flush is working perfectly again.
Incidentally, I had to do this on the in-laws van several years ago and the flush still works as new.

Hi again Paul thanks for the info. If I lift the plunger it just drops back to its rest position under its own weight. I have taken the two screws on the top underneath the plunger but unsure how the bezel comes away to show the pump.

Hi Chaulkie.
Once you've removed the two countersunk screws from beneath the top handle, carefully prize the bezel upwards. It's partly clipped towards the back edge, but it is held in place (usually) with mastic too. A flat edge carefully round the edge will release it. Once the bezel is off, the pump is held by a further four screws (they'll be obvious) and then the pump can be removed but you'll need to 'navigate' it out of the tank as the top of the pump is slightly wider than the opening of the tank, but it will ease out.
Once removed, there's a vacuum breaker mounted beneath and to the side of the handle which two pipes are attached to and you'll need to remove this (clipped in place + x1 screw) then remove the one pipe which runs back into the tank to free the whole pump for examination.

Well Paul I did as you suggested removed the 2 screws prized up the bezel using a 30mm wallpaper scraper removed the other 4 screws lifting out the plunger assembly and removing the flush tube from the assembly. Upon investigation one of the securing lugs were broken off causing the pump not to syphon. As a temporary repair I have used a tywrap to hold the assembly together it has worked short term until I get a spare part so thanks for your help spot on buddy.

Top stuff, pleased to help Chaulkie.
The pump retainer isn't expensive (£6-£8 approx) and easily obtained, but to be honest they are temperamental and if you've had success with a tie wrap, that will be just as good as replacing the part; see Biosdoctor's post above.
I've fitted several pump retainers over the years and as mentioned above, my last issue was actually with the pump body itself. I reckon my repair will be just as good as replacing the whole assembly.

Is it a sticker, or screen printed Michael (I can't remember)? If the latter, then replacement is only option, or remove the faded print completely.
