I had this problem with a brand new van.
I could not see where the problem was originating from and eventually removed the whole skylight. I then removed the surround frame from the caravan roof and found that the "sealant" neither went all the way round but left a one inch gap and the sealant bead itself was not thick enough to actually touch the base of the skylight frame.
This meant that rain water was both coming in through the inch gap and, in windy conditions, was being pushed up over the existing sealant and into the van.
I stripped out all the existing sealant and coated both surfaces with a Sikaflex under coat. I did it this way because both surfaces to be joined were of different materials.
I then put a bead of Sikaflex onto both the skylight frame sealant channel and the caravan roof and then screwed the frame back on the roof.
Anyone now wishing to renew the skylight frame will have to cut it off the roof, but on the up side, that frame will never leak again.![](https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley20.gif)
