Hi, we have a TEC Travel King which is now 7 years old.  It is in pristine condition and I was wondering with regards to insurance whether we should

1. Insure at market value

2. Insure at new for old.  If this is the case, could anyone advise of an insurer who insures caravans over 5 years old for this.

I really would appreciate any advice.  I don't want to be under insured but I don't want to waste money either!

We are with the caravan club £460 this year new for old. Purchased in 2006 new, total cost was £13.000, C.C. Will pay out £16.800 now for a total loss.(I hope). As stated it must be serviced every year, I think there is a time limit too on how early or late it is done .

Thanks for asking this question Toothfairy, it's one that I have been pondering recently. After reading the replies I reccon I will go with new for old.

That's a good point, as caravan prices continue to increase the annual premium does too.

One problem I did notice is that as caravans get heavier with more and more features a 'New for Old' replacement similar to my current van would be too heavy for my present car to tow!  Why is life so complicated?
