We were at a site in Frodsham the weekend quite a nice site. Went for a shower and waited for a cubicle to come free and a guy walked out and couldn't be bothered to mop the floor. There was a guy next to me waiting also, said out loud so he could hear " You get some filthy buggers they cant clean the floor after they have had a shower" The guy turned around and gave me a filthy look he thought I had said it.

I dont clean the floor?? I wasnt aware I was meant to. Doesn't the water running off take care of that. As it is only feet coming into contact with floor is it that importnant to clean it? what are you meant to clean it with?
On the other hand if your that concerned about cleanliness is Camping and Caravanning the right hobby to be indulging in?

Happens far too often, we are breeding a nation of slobs.
Several years ago a the CC site at Trewetthett Farm, the OH heard a little girl akin her mum why they hadn't used a mop in the shower as requested. The mother replied "that's the job of the slaves, darling", then made her way to her Range Rover Sport and large twin-axle.
Obviously not short of a bob or two, but as they say, you can't buy class.
Nobody has ever told me to clean a public shower, who or where are you requested to use a mop to clean floor? Is it a CC requirement? I am not in a club and fairly new to caravanning so not up with Caravan etiquette

At every site I've been to there is a bucket with a mop in it. It is just good manners to mop the floor after you to soak up excess water, clear any mud you might have dragged in and also disinfects the area. It is not such a major issue when it is dry but when wet and muddy outside it is a real bonus if people mop around after themselves.
Yes, but has you seen the state of the mops in some places! A festering bucket of grey water and a mop that looks like it is a breeding ground for germ warfare - about the only thing most mops do is spread the dirt and bacteria around. In the 'good old days' there used to be a tap with a short length of hose pipe that could be used to wash down the floor now we are expected to clean up using a mop that sits in a bucket of water that has been used for cleaning the floor around the toilets and urinals I've not yet seen a bucket and mop that is marked up for use only in the showers. A simple squeegee blade would be a lot better than a dirty mop and it would probably be more efficient at removing excess water from the shower cubicles.

I just do it out of courtesy really. Always been taught to clean up after myself and leave a place how you find it. Its nicer to go into a shower that is clean rather than one that is left in a mess thats all. OOOh bet it dosen't happen as much in the lassies toilets!!! Ha Ha being mean!
Well you learn something everyday. I'll keep an eye out for the mop and I'll tell the wife about it see if she knows. However, if I had no idea then surely it is something thousands of others have no idea about so perhaps they are not electing to be filthy buggers bu simply unaware of it being the done and expected thing to do
One site I went to had the customary bucket and mop, but oh my the water in that bucket was filthy :Q it was all gunky and scum floating on the top, and the mop had seen better days, I wasn't sure which was the lesser of the two evils, wash it with said mop and bucket or leave it.

There are many unwritten "rules" on campsites that you will pick up as time goes by. That's part of the fun.
Like the one that as soon as you arrive, the stop watches come out and you get timed to see how long it takes you before those around you hear the whistle of your kettle sounding!!!!
Aah. The joys of the great outdoors!
PS. I see you are in Llanelli. Well don't bother with your stop watch when we are there in June. We don't drink Tea.
In the disabled toilets with the ccc site the vast majority do mop of after themselves YET.... you get some right dirty swines that leave poop on the seat and canot be bothered to clean it off. If I was waiting to go in after them, I would let all asundry know. BUT only after I had found out if they could or could not. As we have cleaned up after someone had a accident, but was not able to do it himself as his carer was not with him at the time. He apologised, and blushed but he was told it was okay. The other one whi did it could not care a less, so we did complain and called that one a dirty ****** because it was the truth. Only help those that cannot not those that will not.
I've only ever used one site that had a mop to clean the shower after you used it and I have to agree the state of the mop and the water in the bucket was far worse than the shower from the previous user.
C.C and C&CC site's nearly always have clean mop and bucket supplied and your expected to clean the shower after use , cant comment on private site's as we don't use them
