Hello all

We are off to Chatsworth in 2 weeks time to celebrate our wedding anniversary  - 9 years and never a cross word!

We are looking for a nice place to have a celebratory lunch - not too far from the CC site, child and dog friendly (eldest child is 9). Anyone got any recommendations? Not the little chef or the Chatsworth tea shop.......

All suggestions appreciated!

THE CRISPIN IN GREAT LONGSTONE - VERY GOOD FOR LUNCH AND ALSO DOG FRIENDLY.  THERE ARE LOTS OF PUBS IN THE AREA AND ALSO DOG FRIENDLY.

We just spent a long Easter weekend there.

What about the Barrel at Bretton?  Claims to be the highest pub in the Peaks, log fire, dog and child friendly and good food (a mixture of what I'd call plain good pub food and some 'posher' dishes). We had a good meal there, with 'yorkshire' portions!

We also ate at the italian in Baslow - have to say it was a bit of a disappointment, and we love italian!    Anything on the menu other than pasta and pizza was very expensive, drinks were extortionate (and small!  - one small glass of red and two very small cokes - £7.15!) and when we visited, a Thursday evening, pizza was off the menu. The food when it came was good, but nothing out of the ordinary and certainly not worth the money.

Rowleys is supposed to be very good. Its just on the other side of the roundabout where the entrance is to the CC site.

Fischers is a fine dining Michelin starred restaurant a bit further down from Rowleys- Not sure about taking kids here though- it would definately be wasted on ours....

We are just back and ate at the Wheatsheaf in Baslow and the Red Lion in Bakewell with our children, both were very nice. Friends who live locally say that Rowleys isn't child friendly (and they only have one very well behaved child!). We have visited the Peacock at Cutthorpe many times in the past and always had a nice meal but didn't visit this time.

The chip shop in Stoney Middleton is much better than the van which visits the site by the way and it is as quick to drive there as wait in the queue on site!
