I know this is a basic thing to check but assume that when switched to auto you have still left the speed setting on the control knob set to a number? When on auto the heater will only run the fan as fast as this is set (at least ours does). I got caught out with this the first time I used it. If its not something obvious like this then you may need to an engineer to look at it.........def give arc systems a call!
The tiny slider switch on the fan controller is normally what causes this problem, usual solution is to swap the whole controller.
Auto works by limiting the speed depending on the heat being drawn through the fan housing, you set a maximum on the dial and the the heat controls the actual speed 'up to' the speed set on the dial.
PS, I've tried taking one to bits, don't bother!, springs and ball bearing everywhere!! lol
