dont as yet have tv in caravan (never felt the need for it) but when away noticed a tv aerial socket on mains hook up post. does this connect to aerial socket in my hook up locker and then plug tv aerial into aerial socket inside the caravan? also do we need to buy a 12 volt tv or does an ordinary 240v work without using to much of your hook up amps

Hi Paul, some sites do have a fitting where u can plug in an extension airial wire to the tv.Just use an ordinary airial if youve not got one fitted to ur van.You will need a free view box for digital tv now and no,you dont need a 12v telly any telly will do.

\hiya Paul,    As jeffjuke says as long as your connected to EHU you can use any TV from your house ( you only need a 12v TV if you dont connect to EHU ), all you have to do is connect your aerial lead from the sites connector to your vans connector or straight to the TV. Practically all new TV's have built in freeview now so unless yours is an old set you wont need a free view box. Hope this helps.

Most modern TVs have built in freeview / DVD if required 19inch for around £90. You can plug an extension aerial lead directly through your window and straight into the service post if available on site.

Your van may have a connection in one of the lockers to save running through a window. If your tv is an older version you may need a freeview box. If you dont want to be bothered with TVs then you could do what i do and buy a laptop TV dongle that are around £10 or less now and use your laptop (if you have one)to watch tv, play games, listen to music etc..

For better quality sound (but not to annoy the neighbours!)i bought some PC speakers from Robert Dyas (reduced to £10 this month)for a better quality TV / Film sound. The small aerial on these things though are rubbish and you would need a separate aerial (type that clip to the van, mounted on poles attached to jockey wheel). Your omnidirectional aerial may work ok if fitted to the van

OR go the sat route with dish and receiver (around £50 -£100)depending on kit supplier. If you have sky at home you could take your sky box to same programmes

Hope this helps

Andy
