please dont think this is a silly question but when you buy a brand new caravan is the battery included or do you have to purchase your own.

reason im asking is we pick our new van up on wednesday .weve had a motor mover fitted and dont know wether the battery we have  will be big enough

when we picked up of our new van, it didn't have a battery with it, all it came with was the hook up cable, step and the water pump, that was in 2008

Really???, our new lunar in 2007 was complete and working (shown all the water running and heaters/lights working etc) when we collected it... maybe its adealer thing?

Ours was being supplied without (which is standard apparently) so i said i wasn't buying unless they put a new 110 amp one in the van - almost worked but got one half price.

thanks for your answers i thought it would be the 110 amp one as weve got the 85 one at present and no motor mover.

 we picked our new van up the end of march an elddis xplore 302 and we got water containers,eletric cable,gas bottle,battery,pink/green stuff for toilet,and wale pump, and awning,step, all brand new we were well chuffed

we were shown everything working as well as they had it hooked up to one of their batteries

Dealer included a battery as a f.o.c. extra along with a few other bits when I purchased my 'van. Think it depends on the dealer and how hard you negotiate.

dealer included the battery as a freeby   usually you get the lead and the step  the rest is up to you although several firms do a starter deal and all teh essentials are in that    re the battery size - you might WANT a 110 amp but you do not NEED one   I have a mover, used it for 5 years with an 85amp battery   no problems at all      the battery is not more powerful, it merely last longer but you never run the battery / mover for that long anyway    most people feel happier with the bigger one, especially if they are on  a site with no hook up and then it makes sense    otherwise, 'tis but a choice

Our 'new to us' van has a mover and an 85 amp battery and it works fine. It came with the van so we're not going to replace it until we need to.

mine came with 100Ah battery levelling chocks, elecy cable, water jerry can (fresh water) alloy wheel locks, step, and a big funnel for the water container.

I paid extra for spare wheel & tyre, hitchlock and wheel clamp.

First stop was Ikea for all my cutlery, crockery and pan needs to be sorted, plus dustpan and brush, j cloths, dish cloths/tea towels etc etc. All good fun, and quite nostalgic now after 6 years.

You wouldn't ever consider buying a new car without a battery as it certainly wouldn't be fit for purpose and it's quite the same with a caravan as well. You need a leisure battery to operate the water pump alone so the battery should automatically come in with the deal. Don't leave without a leisure battery unless you're prepared to spend the best of £100. No battery - No caravan....simples!
