As for where these switches are fitted?, clever ones are in plain sight and obvious like next to the control switch, daft ones like my own are hidden? I only realised I had one when I looked up while kneeling on the floor...it was hidden from sight when stood up under a shelf!!

PS, reading the rest of your first post, the Carver gas fires ignition uses the caravan battery, or it is manual piezo ignition, so no you would not find a battery to change.
Also, the carver gas valve only lets gas through in one exact spot so unless you know how to light them your going to struggle!

yes yes yes, everything is working, i pressed the flap where gary said and low and behold lovley warm air, the gas fire was just lack of gas coming thrugh i think it just wanted priming it was the same with the carver water heater the red light kept coming on but after a few turning on and off hey presto it switched on, now i have piping hot water, warm air pumping round my feet and a lovley gas fire, now bring on a long weekend trip, thank you to everyone for your help and advice could not do it without you all, this forum is fantastic but only because of the wonderfull people who take the time to help
