Our battery wasn't providing power to the van when we have no hook-up. Wandahome service engineer suggested we should charge the battery for 48 hours but that did not solve the problem. So we have bought a new battery but there is still no power in the van. Any ideas?

Going for the obvious and if your van has a similar system to mine we have a switch which switches the 12v power between off completely or 12v van supply or car battery (runs lights only when car engine off everything when engine running) failing that one of these pesky hidden away fuses thats the easy stuff

On mine the battery is stored in the front, I then have a battery charger under the lounge seating area next to the water heater which has a fuse within the wiring, could yours be similar and the fuse blown?

To add to the above poster, I also have a switch which can be in one of three positions: Car - Off - Caravan.

Hi sjr66, As the above posts, on control panel the 3 way switch has car symbol, caravan symbol, and centre off, on hook up this switch has to be in the caravan position, there are other switches on the control panel that need to be switched ON these are for lights, water pump and water heater(switch ON only when water heater is filled), then there are switches on the lights themselves, if still no12Volt power to van, check near battery for inline fuse, check the fuses, also check for loose connections, bad earth connections(White), or broken wire, keep us posted with the results, hope this has been of some help.

If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong

First of all the best solution would have been to purchase an electrical test meter for your own personal use to check the voltage of your battery first. If the meter showed a reading of 12.7 volts or more then this would have pointed out that the battery wan't at fault and this information passed on to the Wandahome service engineer. The advice would have differed then in the fact that you didn't need a new leisure battery. As the battery has now been ruled out, the cause lies somewhere else so you need to go through some basic steps. There should be a meter showing the charge state of the battery which is indicated in volts so you need to look if this gauge is showing a reading or not. If it isn't then try the rocker switch that changes over from car to van which should be switched to van when you are consuming power from the on board leisure battery. If there is still no reading then you must either have an isolation switch somewhere or it's a blown fuse but whatever it is it sounds like something simple. If all the above fails then the advice is to have a professional circuit test done to detect where the power failure is which could possibly be connected to the onboard battery charger.

Thanks to everybody. The problem was a blown fuse. I am pretty angry with the Wandahome service engineer as he knew the battery might have been a problem but didn't check with a different battery when he serviced tha van. We bought a battery charger, a new battery and when the new battery didn't work we changed a couple of fuses around and found the fuse for the leisure battery to be at fault. Very annoying, but at least the problem is solved. Thanks again.
