We are very new to caravaning and are planning to go away for a long weekend soon, we have 2 Border Collies and need to use something to stake their leads into the ground with.
I remember reading somewhere on here (although can't find it now) about the best things to use and that people were saying not to use the corkscrew type one's as these came lose if the dogs were constantly pulling on them (which ours will no doubt do).
We have used the corkscrew - although only for one dog - with no problem, just screw it right in - otherwise we tend to use the stake/peg for the tie down kit. Just keep checking x

we have used the corckscrew with a strong boxer and no problems but i make sure it is all the way down. The only real issue is making sure the dogs don't accidently strangle each other by wrapping the cord around the neck of one of them. this happened to a friend last year with 2 spanels. The dog survived but it was a horrible situation!
Been using the cork screw type with a strong lab for years with no problems. Very much doubt it would come loose as long as it's screwed all the way in as others have said. I use the wooden mallet handle though the triangular loop if the ground's hard.
Don't fret Moppatops! Our 3 borders have used the screw in type (sometimes all on 1 of them). Make sure your line is not so long as to inconvenience others on site, the dogs, being the most wonderful breed of dog, will soon learn their limitations and settle. Bribery works well in the initial phase! They'll love it! Adrian
