the blow air heater works fine on the slow setting if i switch it on the fast setting the heater trips??? cant understand why its doin it on fast and not on the slow
mk2? do you mean the Fanmaster with the slide switch control?
If it is then I'd guess you mean tripping the mains RCD? which would mean the second 1kw element is damp.
If I'm right? try running it on gas for at least a day and see if that drives out the damp

Oh dear, I deleted the original post when I read mk2?
Now your saying it's a mk1!
But no it's more than that, the fanmaster needs to come out and the flat cover over the fan removed, if the covers screwed on then all well and good but if it looks like it's riveted then you will find a 2mm Allen key will remove them, then replace with 3.5mmx10mm self tappers
I'm sure it's a carver cascade 2 with black casing on the back. When you look in the cupboard it's got the black casing on the back (behind the heater). Thanks
I am having the same problem my fanmaster keeps tripping out, but not at the RCD its tripping at the little trip switch on the side of the black casing, it blows lovely warm air for about 10 to 15 minutes then blows cold and I have to press the reset button again, not sure what the problem is yet, but will let you know if i find out
------------- life is to short so make the most of your weekends, just hitch up and gooooooooooo
The Carver Cascade2 is the water heater.
What we are talking about is the Carver Fanmaster and in this case the Mk1 with wall mounted control switch.
This is fitted to Carvers 1800S or 1800Sc and the 3000S and 3600 gas fires and available from 95 to 2000
The mk2 Fanmasters are the 2000/4000/5500 models, these use a slide control switch mounted on top of the gas fire front, only available in 98/99/00.
(There may though be a few 2000 models fitted with a wall mounted control).
So given both are overheating and in the first instance, the fanmaster mk1 needs cleaning out.
thanks gary from arc systems any advice on how to clean it out, is it straight forward I assume its means taking the back cover off and a gentle clean??
It's not the black cover on the back but the flat alloy plate on the fire side of the unit that needs removing.
Cleaning the muck out is simple, an airline is best but other than that a small stiff brush and a 1" paint brush, hoover, or anything to hand!, just don't be harsh with the fan so you don't bend it
