Picked up new to us sterling europa 540(windward) on Saturday and theres a small lockable flap on side of caravan where you top up the toilet flush.
But when i open it up theres what looks like a couple of wires running from top to bottom and it doesnt look like id expected ie not like a closed tube and im worried of just pouring water and rinse down.
Anyone have any experience?

The level indicator should be located at the top of the toilet flush tank (inside the caravan) on the right of the manual flush handle. It should be a small diamond shape red light that is operated by the use of two AA batteries that are located in the cassette holding tank compartment.

This isn't a level indicator for the flush tank though is it, which is what I think Michael was considering the two bits of wire might relate to; this red lamp is to warn the waste level is getting near full in the cassette.

Is the water inlet not anything like this? (less the odd black bits of course, van needs a wash...)

yes its the same but when you look through there are wires running top to bottom across the aperture,this is what concerened me doesnt seem right?

In that case, could they simply be the feed wiring for the top 'tank-full' lamp, that have perhaps become trapped in the way during assembly of the loo into the van.

Alternatively, although I can't think of any obvious reason, maybe the previous owner fitted them for some odd purpose?

You could always consider removing the outer plate (held on by four screws and a bead of mastic on the back) as you may well suss out what these may have been for or simply push to one side and refit the outer trim.

do not know of any filler inlets containing 2 wires.as said it is just possible the wires have slipped down on route and could be from the two batteries inside the compartment that holds the cassette to the cassette level indicator.
