Hi,
We're new to caravanning - inheriting a 2 berth caravan in a house move :-) We're looking forward to it, used to camping but apprehensive too!

Anyway, my question is, we have a 17month old daughter & aren't too sure how we are all going to fit in to sleep as don't think a standard travel cot will fit....it has the sleeping arrangement where it's 2 singles with the gap inbetween or all folds down to make a large bed. One idea is for me & hubby to sleep on singles, baby on cushions on floor in middle with some kind of barrier at end? But welcome anyones ideas or experiences please!

we used a bed rail from mothercare,these just slide under the cushions,about £30. you can buy a net too but i do not know how these fit.

When I was a child my parents and my brother slept on the singles made up into a large double and I sept on a sleeping mat on the floor under the bed. I loved it as it was my little den. Fifty + years on I have a caravan about twice the size and sleep on a fixed double. How times change!

We have a two berth for us + 10 year old. The bed is huge (Kings size+) so we just all pile on together (will become an issue in the next year or so, but hopefully not till we can afford a new van!). Only problem might be where you go once your toddler is in bed - do you have an awning? We sit in there if 10yo goes to bed earlier than us.

Make the front into a double but sleep as three singles. putting the little one in the middle shorter bit. With head to the drawers/front window for the little one with a pillow at their feet. They usually always move up the bed during sleep but the pillow will stop them moving downwards just in case. Happy caravanning xx

We have a two birth and we have a eight year old, he just Jumps in with us, plenty of room and he likes it cause its cosey.

Hi there, we have had exactly the same predicament since our last terrorist was born. 2 years ago he was 3 months and he slept brilliantly on the floor between the front seats in a Moses basket. Last year he was 15 months as we toured France, we made the front bed into a large double and he slept in between us. To stop him crawling out we used a bed guard (link below). We will probably set up the rear bunk beds where he can sleep on the lower bed and we shall use the bed guard again.

If you're going to sleep your baby on the floor, just check for draughts from air vents! Recently went away in my Sis's van with my dog on the floor, her van has an overkill of air vents at floor level and the dog was restless as she was too cold to sleep. Once we had worked out why, we put some cushions over the gaps, just where she lay (air vents inside the lockers uncovered) so she could sleep a bit better with her blankie covering her.
