Hi every one, I have a gas fire and was wondering if I could upgrade to a half electric and half gas fire. I also have the fan asisted air ducts too if that makes a difference.

yes it is possible for some models as there is an upgrade kit available.

It isn't cheap and I don't know how much work is involved in fitting.

in my new van I have a gas fire and gas and electric blow air heating, but I still use a little fan heater which I use to have in my old van, it has a built in thermostat I bought it from argos for £15.00 18 months ago and its perfect

I think that is a but costly for an upgrade.

I've got an oil filled radiator that is good but unlike the gas fire and fan assisited ducting the heat doesn't spread around the van equally.

I was hopping to be able to upgrade my gas heater to a conbined gas/elec heater and still use the fan assisted ducting.

1992 van you have so falls into the time period when floor level ventilation was excessive to say the least?!

You may well then find you have fairly large vents in the front of bed boxes leading out into the living space, or even under your feet in plain view?

If this is the case then block them up, as current regulations and in all caravans from 1998 on.
Otherwise increasing heating simply speeds up the passage of air through the van with little or no improvement to temperature.

Note; the floor vents I speak about are not to be confused with 'gas drop holes' which should never be blocked, they maybe similar in appearance but found under gas connections not under your feet!

I havnt noticed any floor vents and the van is generally warm, I have seen the vent under the fire which I gas is the gas drop holes.

Also I'm not sure on the year of my van I'm only guesing its a 92.
