A word of warning.... The cheap porch awnings are very flimsy, they will do what you want while ever the weather is not too bad but we have seen what happens when the wind gets up or when the rain gets heavy - they get torn to shreds!!  If you really want a polyester awning then spend as much as you can afford, but don't expect even an expensive one to last for years.  Have you thought about a second hand acyrilic one?  Have you looked on the 'Free Ad's' section of this site?  You could also try www.preloved.co.uk. 

We have a Sunncamp Ultima 260, which we took for use in France, but little used since.  Because of  tiny hole at the top of one plastic window, which is patched, we have put it on the C.C. on line ads for £75.  Frankly, if buying secondhand, these quick-assembly awnings are not worth paying a lot for.

I have a sunncamp swift porch and am very pleased with it. Excellent value for money and have not found it 'flimsy' at all. I agree you get what you pay for but  the op wants somewhere to store boots etc and for that its brilliant. Mine has stood up to some strong winds so far and its easy to put up on my own( I need help if its too windy). My only gripe is that the skirt has no eyelets to peg it down so I have altered  that myself.

  Hi, we have a Coniston Quest 390. We got rid of our full awning due to it being too heavy for me to put up due to my health. we found the quest easier to put up and the first time we used it it did leak a little bit as we were told it would. We have just come back after 5 days away in mablethorpe and it stood up to some of the worst weather we have seen for a long time. We had NO leaks and it stood up to all the gale force winds we had as well. the only problem we had was the mud skirt wasn't quite long enough so the OH bought some rip stop off ebay and extended it her self....Perfect, I put some eyelets in to as well so we could peg it down and it was fine. hth

We use our awning just for putting boots an shoes in.  We have a suncamp scenic and has been fine for this purpose.  We are now trying out a fiamma caravanstore canopy we have bought used for £50.

Not everybody wants an awning to set up chairs, tables etc.  We had a full awning in our last van and decided we don't want another full awning again.  The heavyweight porch awings don't weigh a great deal less thasn the full awnings.

Ours is not much heavier than a lightweight one. It's 22kg, Kampa Rally 260 is 18kg (without extras). Personally wouldn't have one with fibreglass poles.
