Hi everybody, after our 3 week trip around France last year we came to the conclusion that a single axle van (about 1275 MIRO) with an end bathroom, bunk beds and large fridge/freezer would our family better than what we have currently. We have looked around a few manufactures but unable to find what we want that can be towed safely by the CRV. Does anyone have any ideas?

If your CRV is the new model it will have a kerb weight of somewhere around 1660 - 1720kg model dependant so you will be ideally looking for a van no more than 1550 kg (90%)
The type of layout your after is found in big heavy twin axles so I doubt if you will find any single axle which will suit your Honda .

If you are looking for new I might consider the Bailey Pegasus Acona or Olympus 540-5. Both have the bunks and also a sort of end bathroom that runs alongside the bunks. I can't think of any with a full end bathroom with bunks that aren't into twin axle land but others may have some ideas. If you wanted to consider a mid bathroom that the Lunar Quasar 546 is also maybe worth a look.

The new Swift 585 may suit you, but again; not a full width bathroom

try the adria altea 542dt,

triple bunks, side dinette (makes up single bed) and front 2 benches (makes up large double),

has a large washroom (though not full width),

max weight 1300kg!

{it's a very strong contender for our next van}

There is a Lunar Quasar model that might fit the bill. I have a 524 which has a mptlw of 1360 kg. The 524 is not on the model list for 2012, but there is a side dinette/bunks model in the line up.

The Adria is a very good van and very light but it doesn't have a large fridge/freezer. It's great family van with adult sized bunks, We use a powered coolbox in the awning to compensate.

we are just looking for the same. our shortlist is:

Sprite Major 6 - MTPLM=1437
Bailey Ancona - MTPLM=1499
Olympus 540-5 - MTPLM=1450

i dont think there is a single axle with a full rear bathroom, but these all have fixed bunks that are set on the side of the van, but tucked right up to the rear if that makes sense.

what your asking for is only available as a twin axle, but i am not sure what currently has both the bunks and a large bathroom unles syou look for a used Sprite Quattro ES. New your looking at something like a Challenger Sport 636 (MTPLM=1650)...but obvioulsy much longer and more money!

We have a lunar astara 523 and that has end bathroom, two bunks/dinette, mtplm 1350, its a 2003 but im sure the new models from lunar are of similar layout.

thanks all for your reply's, spoke to a dealer today, he has had a few people ask for something similar (large fridge freezer/single axle/large bathroom/bunk beds) . He said that he would pass this onto the manufacturers they deal with so watch this space!!

He also mentioned that he saw a second hand van similar to our layout where the previous owner had modified the rear to a fixed bunk with freezer to the side. May have a look but probably not make it a permanent fixture.
