The empty, or tare weight can vary, but is it a Calor bottle? Do you not have the disc on the top which shows the weight?
Quote from Calor's FAQ section:
For all other cylinders, the empty tare weight can be found on a metal disc on the shroud, this gives the weight of the cylinder in pounds and ounces. To convert this to kilograms multiply this number by 0.453592. Once you have the empty weight of the cylinder you can put it on some scales, then you will have the total weight, so you can now take the empty cylinder weight off the total, this will give you how much gas you have left in the cylinder.
Are these the cylinders you have?
The Calor Lite® weighs 4.52 kg empty. The existing Calor 6kg cylinder weights 9kg empty.
I expect somewhere it has the Tare [empty] weight, Calor on its old steel cylinders stamp it on an aluminium neck disc but oddly it is in lbs and ounces.
nope no ally label on cylinder and my other two are in the van, just can't remember the tare weight !!!!!!
its either 7.7kkgs or 8kgs as replied, now which is it ?? i want to weigh it to see if its got any gas in,then i can exchange it for a calorlite cylinder as i want to change over to them.
I've just calculated the weight on the neck of my bottle, which equates to 8.22kgs tare. Without the original weight label, you'll have to guestimate with the available suggestions.
I have a few calor bottles and have weighed them both empty and full so that I can always take the fullest one with me. 9kg empty and the 6kg refers to the weight of the gas, so a full one is 15kg
The receiving calor dealer will not question this as long as its obviously calor bottle. They simply replace the missing tare disc with full up to date weights

many thanks.
Calor lite bottles have been withdrawn. You will struggle to find one.
If you're looking to save weight then shop around other suppliers such as Flogas for a composite bottle then your problem is that a lot of firms are only doing exchange not new contracts.
If you use a fair amount of gas then consider getting a Safefill bottle.

Welcome along to the forum Mark.
Not sure if you're aware but this is quite an old post, but your info may be of use to others who come along.

------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Can't knock safefill, I've actually got four 10kg bottles. Not only for my caravan but its also saving a fortune over winter by using a couple of small heaters. £14 each to refill, and well over a week of in house heating
