After having our first van repaired by the dealer due to damp problems, I'm sorry to say the damp re-appeared again !
Old Thread - Damp Caravan From Dealer

We finally decided we had had enough and took the van back for a full refund. After a frantic few weeks of searching we finally found a 2008 Bailey Ranger 540/6
After a very thorough check, we couldn't find any damp with it, so we purchased the van and collected it yesterday. So far no problems (Touch wood, cross fingers, etc)

It's now on the drive being cleaned top to bottom before we go away tomorrow.

We only started caravanning in Feb this year and we are already on our second van! Lets hope this is the start of good times as it's just been total stress so far.

Glad it's sorted now - enjoy!

My caravan is always springing leaks - I sort one, then it springs another ! Fingers crossed, I seem to have cured the lot now. It's a peculiar little thing, I don't want to part with it, so have persevered!

The very last leak (up a tight corner you couldn't even get a finger into) was cured by pushing blu-tack into the space with the end of an art brush handle. From the inside and the outside. Before that I had tried sikaflex primer and sealer, tenacious tape, oh, all sorts. The blu-tack seems to have done the trick, crossed fingers!

Another full day of cleaning / checking and adjusting on our new van.
Does it ever end ???

We are trying to get away around midday on Friday, but we still seem to have loads to do.

I think we have earnt a good rest this weekend in our lovely new van. Just hope the weather holds.

We`ve been fortunate wi our old Daystar.  She has no leaks at all on the inside.  You`ll find it easy to get away after you`ve sussed out your van. You can leave most stuff packed until next time!

Why do UK firms continue to put softwood frames in modern vans? Guaranteed to encourage damp.

Hymers PUAL system is fabulous - should be the norm for vans of today.

Why don't they just make vans that don't let water in in the first place ! Is it really that hard in this day and age !

Softwood frames contain moisture when assembled. Condensation creeps through ply panels. As does shower steam.

PUAL stops all of that. Its not just about gaps in the bodywork seals.
