Thanks Phillip - it was in a right state when I bought it, I really got ripped off. Although the seller told me it was ready for going away camping in, when I got a mobile engineer to check, he had to replace all the gas pipes, etc (old and perished) and the electricity was live all the time, had to put in an electric unit with trip switches. And a lot more stuff besides. (a good job I didn't believe the seller and went camping in it as it was, I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale!) Works fine now - and I seem to have cured the very very last leak! (touch wood!) LOL. Love it to bits.

Have you got an electric hook up point in your van, Sophie? You will have a funny round plug on the outside of the van (sometimes under a cover) and on the inside there will be some kind of electrical unit nearby, usually inside a cupboard of wardrobe. And maybe a long EHU lead with matching plug somewhere about. No use without an EHU point though!

If you don't know that much about caravanning, and your caravan is an old one (like mine) it might serve you well to get a mobile engineer out to do a habitation check, just to be on the safe side, especially with gas.

Like I said earlier, if I had taken the chap I bought mine off at his word and not had the checks done, I would have either gassed or electrocuted myself, or blown up the caravan.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I have a question.

If you mount your tv aerial on a mast will you get a better reception because of the increased height ?

Yes - ish....
The main point is that the aerial has a clear line-of-sight; if there is a building or trees or some-such, that object will block or reduce the signal, so (in theory) if you're on top of the highest hill around, you could have your aerial at almost ground level - but in practice, "higher helps" - but still doesn't 100% guarantee....
