Hi, I know I should know this but....The site pitching slopes downhill. The pitches are wide enough to allow positioning at an angle. Last year we faced down the slope, chocked up under the jockey + front steadies and enjoyed the view and did not "peer" onto other 'vans. The back of the 'van was almost touching the ground. With me so far? We used our porch awning and all was well. This year we want to take the full size awning and before we have a "domestic" whilst setting up, is there a way we could angle the 'van to lessen the difference between front and back heights off the ground and so allow the awning to fit, i.e. reach at front and back? Yes I know I should know this, but.....Thanks, Adrian
Yes, thanks Gram. I get the side/side or lateral levelling bit and the fore/aft front/back. What I am really after (I think) is which way across the slope should we angle the 'van to minimise the front/back differential on the 'van. Or am I being incredibly stupid and niaive? Adrian
On a sloping pitch your going to have trouble however you pitch. Even if you get the van perfectly level you can't alter the slope of the pitch. So fore/aft front of awning way off the ground, back touching. Across the pitch if awning on the down side the awning will be way off the ground. Awning on up side, the awning will be touching the ground virtually as soon as it comes off the van and get worse going up the slope. As above go for a leveller pitch.

As long as the slope is even all the way along the van the awning will fit easily. For want of a better description what is lost at the back is taken up at the front. The only problem is likely to come with the draft skirt which will need a very short length at the back and a much longer length at the front.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
