Does anyone know, if this was attached to your leisure battery and not being used to charge anything, would it still be draining the battery (that is, charging and drawing power all the time) or just inactive until you plug something in.
Would you be better disconnecting it from the battery when not in use?
have just ordered one of these as it is fused, and long enough to feed into the caravan, so that I can charge mobiles and tv from leisure battery. Mobiles, not a problem as such a little draw. TV takes an hour to charge on EHU, it lasts about 1.5hours fully charged, just need to power it if watching a dvd and run out of battery before the end of film, nothing worse!
we bought one from our local caravan shop. we have seen that running just our tv of a car battery it last over 18 hours. we was really shocked with it. we tried to power of our leisure battery and that last only 4 hours but we think ours is a little dodgy and need either topping up with water or replacing all together.
There'd be no consumption leaving the wire connected with nothing plugged in the socket. I wouldn't leave the TV connected even when switched off, as there may be some draw internal to the TV. TBH, I'd disconnect the cable anyway when it's not in use and put the battery terminal cover on for safety.
But that's just me, *anal* as usual about this stuff.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

Then I'm the same, Mike, as I was thinking along the same lines. I only want to connect my tv just to finish watching a dvd for eg., if the internal bettery fails before the end! I will be charging that up from the car (along with the mobiles) whilst on the move, day to day.
yeh we disconnected the tv once we turned of just incase it did draw any power out of the battery. We got 2 car batts and a lesuire and we got 18 hours out both of them so think we hit lucky from the scrap yard where as the lesuire battery that came with the caravan itself drained within 2 hours but we think its had it day and going to purchase a new one. We had a fantastic week thou and from all the help mainly from jax's re aireal and the tv etc gave the kids alot of entertainment while the rain was coming down and we was stuck in caravan thanks again jaxs once in a milion 4 helping out.

You're welcome!
I used the little thingy just to watch then of something when the tv battery failed, and it was brilliant. I also used it to charge up my tv so that I could use it again, only it was much quicker charging it in the car whilst driving for some reason!
And I couldn't get a decent tv signal for two whole weeks, but that wasn't the fault of the aerial, but the sites we were on!
