Hi Everyone,we have just returned from a great jubilee bank holiday at Strid Wood CC and couldnt help noticing that a lot of folk are now using the new lightweight gas.

So this query is aimed at all you clever people out there who are clued up on the subject.

 Our caravan is equipped with the 'blue bottle'-Butane and have never had any problems with it (touching wood), so do you think there would be any advantage in swapping over,and if so,what would we need to do,

The only reason you need to change is if you need to save weight and use the lighter bottles which contain Propane instead of Butane.

Propane is handy for winter caravanning as it will not freeze as quickly as butane and it also burns a bit hotter.

Just like to say thanks for all the replies regarding our thoughts on changing to the lightweight gas.

Cheers blueexpo97,wouldnt have had a clue what a 'pigtail handwheel gas hose connector' was without your picture,went and bought one today.

hi  we are very new to caravaning and our van is a elddis xplore 302 we want to change from a 7k butane bottle to a 6k propane bottle, on the link about the pigtail it said if your regulator is fixed you can use it, how do you know if you got a fixed regulator? because on the butane bottle we have to push what i thought is the regulator on the bottle but also there what looks like a fixed regulator with a little yellow on/of clip in the middle between where the two gas bottle goes, what do i need to buy a propane regulator or a pig tail?
