We are off to the Isle of Wight at the end of the month,We have our ferry tickets and with our van being 2.63 mtrs in height it states that we will have to remove the TV ariel because max height is 2.60 mtrs. This is going to be abit difficuilt having to remove it either use stepladders or put the wife on my shoulders through the skylight LOL, all for 3 cms. We are using Wightlink ferries from Lymington, as anyone had to remove their TV ariel before driving onto ferry ??

Been over a dozen times from Portsmouth and Southampton. Never had a problem there must be lorries that use that service if not use the other service to Isle of Wight. If it is a directional Ariel it wont be that simple it is plugged into the booster.

l could do, its means deflating and then inflating 4 tyres on our caravan and how much air would l need to release from tyres and having to use a tape measure

If you're taking the Unicorn referred to in your profile, it'll have a Status 530 directional aerial which is fully and easily removeable.
Text below pasted direct from 530 user guide:

Unplug the antenna from the powerpack.
Loosen the Mast Locking Collar and Wall Bracket and lift off while feeding out the mast and cable.
Push the Blanking Cap supplied into place.
IMPORTANT: The Blanking Cap is a 'temporary seal' and not recommended for long term use.

Would the removal of the aerial though give you the reduction in height you need? Remember too there's the rooflight and I assume also there's an outlet flue for the heater. It's likely that just the removal of the aerial wouldn't give you the reduction you want to achieve. Also, have you taken the height off the Bailey website? There's likely to be a variance on this if you were to accurately measure your own van.

To be honest though, I've used the Wightlink route several years ago, along with other users too and didn't encountered a problem.

Cheers Paul its the Unicorn Barcelona we have,the ariel is situated offside front,l know how to remove the aerial, the problem is l can take the aerial out before l leave, its putting it back like l said when l posted this topic. l can try by opening the front skylight and getting the wife on my shoulders which would be funny to anyone watching.

Apologies, didn't read your post in the way it was clearly intended.
As said, check height of other roof mounted obstructions; personally I don't think it's necessary.

PS: My Bailey 500/5 is 2.7m height in spec, and from memory I didn't remove anything for Wightlink crossing a few years ago.
