Hi all, Ive been looking at the required tyre pressure of our Lunar Odyssey 462 (2001) 1080 MTPLM and tyre size is 175/13 and I think from reading the chart it said 65psi. it sounds alot to me but being a single axle maybe its correct. Could anyone tell me if this is right pressure please.

can not say for sure on your van but our old bailey had 13 in wheels and the tyres were 65 psi.so if your hand book says this it may be correct.

Thats the thing micheal, I didnt get a handbook with it. but on the side of the tyre it says 175/13.

hi,

my swift 5 berth has max (loaded) weight of 1150kg, according to the manual the

tyre pressures for 13" wheels is 42psi.

You have to know the load rating to be sure - 94 or something thereabouts?

It usually states the max load at the max tyre pressure somewhere on the tyre.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the formula works like this:

Max psi stated on tyre divided by max weight stated on tyre then multiplied by caravan MTPLM.

Eg

65(psi) divided by 1400kg=0. 043

0. 043 x 1250kg(MTPLM) = 53.7psi

This assumes that you have the correct kind of tyre on your van

Apart from the fact that your values will be halved as they apply to each tyre.

If the load index was 94, this is 670kg. If the max pressure was 65psi then 65/670 = 0.0970149. Multiply that by 600 if the MTPLM was 1200, giving 58.2 psi.

Some say that you can reduce this by 10% for caravans as they sit around doing nothing most of the time, and the lower figure gives them a more comfortable ride - giving 52psi in this instance.

A 175R13C 97 tyre takes 65psi at a pairs maximum load of 1460kg, if this is the tyre? then for 1080kg the correct pressure is 44psi.

The formula always give a higher pressure, not far out close to the tyres maximums but can be way out at say half maximums and below.
In this tyres case the formula comes up with 48psi, that though is suitable for 1140kg
