I am looking at fitting a mover to our caravan and the model I'm looking at reccommends an 85ah battery. The caravan is currently fitted with a 70ah battery will this be enough to power the mover or will I need to upgrade the battery?
My OH has fitted a mover this week and we went for a 110ah battery. For a few pounds more I think it is worth it. Ours said min 85ah but 110ah recommended. What mover are you considering?

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Any battery will operate the mover, but an 85ah or 110ah one will keep it running and the lights on for longer than a 70ah one. Think about the ah number in the same way that you would the number of litres a petrol tank holds.
powrtouch recommends 85 amp but i have 110 amp fitted to ours. as said a 70 amp will work if fully charged but for how long.it could stop at the most critical time
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
It'sa bit like the fuel tank in the car. The more fuel in it the longer the car will run. Go for a 110ah and fill it up. The cost difference is not a lot.
We have just had a powertouch hd3 fitted and use an 85ah battery. So far so good!
Bear in mind that if you go up to 110ah it needs to fit in your battery compartment as well.

Thanks for all the replys. We do only go to sites with mains hook up so hopefully for short bursts on the mover 70ah will do the job for now. However, maybe an upgrade in the future will be the way to go if the battery starts showing its age.

As long as it's healthy you should be fine. I ran my Powrtouch on a 55Ah car battery for a short period last year and it never showed signs of giving up, even after around 10 mins of use. Salesmen and fitters are bound to recommend a 110Ah battery, they'll make more money on it!
