Every time the OH and I pack away our awning it takes us several times to fold it correctly so that it fits in the bag it came in. How do others pack theirs away?
I need it packed away tight so that it fits in the roofbox, but it can be very frustrating at times. Are there bigger bags available to hold awnings or any other ideas forthcoming?
I've yet to see any kind of object like an awning, tent or the like go back in the bag it came in!
We had some bags made up by a local tarpaulin maker and repairer to put some of our marquee PVC in.
we fold the sides in to make a large rectangle then either fold into thirds or quarters then in half to make it the right size for the bag and then roll tightly .... at least I think thats what we do :)
Hi we have got one of these it's so easy .http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Isabella-Awnings-Canvas-Storage-holdall-Bag-easily-roll-the-awning-into-the-bag-/250950674481?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item3a6dd36831
Sorry cant get the link to work but it is brilliant
Flatten it out onto ground & fold length wise so final width before you start rolling is slightly less than length of bag. Then place each end into middle & roll tightly. Keep a length of nylon cord to tie around roll so it stays rolled while you drop it into bag.
The awning bags that are like material tubes with the opening at one end are useless, we bought a bag off ebay that has the zip running along the length, much, much easier.
probably depends on your awning type. we have a crusader 390 we fold it in half along the top of the windows, fold the sides in then use the caravan awning skirt thingy to set the width for folding and fold then fold again and then roll and tie to keep together...fits in the bag no problem
Yes there are bigger bags that you can buy to pack your awning in. I bought a tube style heavy duty waterproof awning bag from 'Weekend Leisure' which will accommodate about any size awning on the market which is shown in the first link. However, if you prefer a flat bag that is waterproof, strong and well made then the one in the second link I can highly recommend as I have bought many items from this company in the past. I have bought from them in the past an aquaroll bag, wastemaster bag, EHU cable bag, awning peg bag and a hitch cover and have been pleased with the product and service every time. I would have purchased an awning bag from them too but they didn't do the tube style bag so I had to settle for the alternative shown in the first link.

We do similar to this, except we dont roll we fold from each end until we meet in the middle, making sure to push all the air out as we go. Tie withstring, or whatever. This method has worked for us with frame tents and awnings.
We had the same problem, trying to fit our full awning (Ventura Atlantic) into its open end bag after taking it out.
Whilst out at our caravan dealers one day we noticed they had Isabella awning bags for sale, these are great, they have a centre zip that runs the whole length and the full awning fits in with ease, without crushing the awning down it also has two carry handles.
We can now fold the awning and its panels without crushing all the windows and keeps it looking new.
We decided to buy two and use one for all the poles,
