Hi - looking for some experience please.

We have an old Carlight caravan - rail 800cm ground - ground but it is only 2.2m high at the highest point.  We have an Outdoor Revolution lightweight porch type awning which is really good but it simply doesn't fit because we have to splay out the sides nearest the caravan as they are too long - being made for the newer tall caravans.

Does anyone know of a lightweight porch type awning made for a lower rail?

Thank you

We had this problem when looking for a porch awning for our pop-top, rail height 850cm. We have a full awning, specific for the pop-top, which we don't always need, which takes as long to assemble as a larger awning. We were unable to find a porch awning with the right height but we found this which we have purchased although it's unused at yet due to this summer's weather!

We have assembled it in the garden to give it a test & it fits perfectly although it is really only a wide & deep canopy. Our pop-top is very dinky, just a 2 berth but with all the mod cons we need, but if the weather is iffy the canopy will give us shelter so we can have the caravan door open & should we ever have sun again, it will be a shady spot too.

Thanks Angela

I emailed outdoor revolution earlier and that's what they recommended. They do a sun canopy for lower rails but I'd prefer an awning made for lower rails if there is such a thing. The campervan one is a bit "tentlike"

I like the ease of lightweights so fingers crossed.

We had an eriba puck & had a similar problem ... I think most used a moverlite type awning but if you look on the eriba forum I'm sure you will get lots of advice

My little van also has a 220cm rail height and ground to ground of just 640cm!

I hunted for ages for a suitable awning, asking several retailers and emailing compaines like Isabella and Kampa.
They all came back with the same thing - nobody appears to make awnings this low anymore so best bet is to try and find a second hand vintage/retro awning to suit the van! I am still searching for one of these!

I was given a beautiful Bradcot Patio porch awning that in fact covers the whole of my van like a full awning but it isn't a great fit as it is too tall really.

In the end I had to look at the drive away motorhome/camper awnings.
My OH treated me at Christmas to the OR Touring XLS which has a bedroom pod attached.
Touring XLS
I used it over the Jubilee/half term week when the weather was horrendous and it stood rock solid with no leaks - I was VERY impressed!
It was quick and easy to erect - took 2 of us just 10 minutes from start to finish.

I know it is a bit "tent like" but is does the job fantastically well and is a really good choice for smaller height vans.

I also use the OR Easi Canopi in the summer months which is a doddle to fit and gives a you a lovely shaded outdoor area:

Many thanks for replies. Helen and o & o. Looks like a drive away then.

Will look for a previously loved first though.
