We've just used our Quest Elite Roll out awning, which we purchased from Towsure, in a very windy Dorset. The roof poles were an absolute nightmare to put up (more of that later). The awning, once erected, was great. It matched our Bailey Pegasus perfectly.
On Thursday of last week, we returned to our campsite from a day out in Poole, to find gale force winds ripping through the campsite & several awnings had been ripped out of their moorings and flapping about on the caravan roofs. Our awning though, was holding fast. In 15 years of caravanning, I've never known wind like it. We couldn't take our awning down until the morning, when our friends arrived, otherwise it would've taken off. The awning held fast all night and, in the morning, all we found were 3 bent roof poles.
On our return home on Saturday, I contacted Quest Leisure who were fantastic, and they promised to supply us with 3 new roof poles. We only had to pay for the postage. They then asked us for the make & model of our caravan, which I though strange. They informed me that caravans with Alu-tech bodysides are supplied with different roof poles. That was the reason why I had difficulty putting up the awning, and consequently, damaging my caravan in the process.
If anyone that buys this awning and has a caravan with Alu-tech bodysides, please ensure you tell the supplier that you require the shorter roof poles. Towsure don't give you the option to state your caravan make & model on their website (I've since highlighted this to them), so for now, you'll need to place your order by phone.
